Game vs. Racers 4/28/2005 (L 15-14)

A disappointing loss, to be sure. Once again, we made too many errors (13) in the field and gave away too many runs. Even so, we hit well and fought hard enough to give ourselves a chance to win.

Kudos to:
  • Megan S., got a game ball for two hits (a home run and a double), three runs scored, and two runs batted in. She has been consistenly getting hits to drive in runs when we need it, all season long.
  • Jenny Rose, the second game ball, for playing a great left field with a sore finger.
  • Rachael, had two hits and three runs batted in.
  • Bridgette, scored three runs.

Keep Brittany Williams in your thoughts and hope that her knee is not hurt too badly.

Great effort to hang it the game, girls. We will tighten up the defense.

    Game vs. Thunder 4/27/2005 (L 18-10)

Not much to say about this one. As I said after the game, a combination of many of you playing out of position at the beginning (thanks to all of you for dealing with this) and defensive lapses throughout the game beat us.

We'll move on, put this one out of our minds, and do better the next game.

Update 4/28:After an overnight of reflection, I think I now understand what happened. The team was out-of-sync at the beginning of the game because of not knowing exactly what position they were playing. This continued throughout the game; the team never got into the flow of the game. As coach, this is my responsibilty; most of the confusion was caused by me. I'm sorry and I'll try to do better.

    Game vs. Thunder 4/25/2005 (W 9-3)

Wow, what a performance! If we play like this every game, we'll be VERY tough to beat!

    Kudos to:
  • Brittany R., game ball for three hits, including a triple.
  • Rachael, with three hits.
  • Megan S., with two hits, two runs, and three RBI.
  • Brittany W., after being pressed into duty in the outfield, made a great running catch of a sinking line drive.
  • Julia, pitched the entire game, only giving up five hits.

  • You girls played a great game on both offense and especially on defense; there was not one error!

Game vs. Upper Merion Black 4/24/2005 (L 10-9)

Not much to be said about this game. As Mr. B said after the game, we hit well, but our defense was a bit shaky. We'll move on and do better the next game.

    Kudos to:
  • Megan Murphy, game ball for throwing a runner out at third from the outfield and scoring three runs.
  • Julia, who continued her hot hitting with two hits and four runs batted in.
  • Brittany Roth, in her first appearance this season with two walks and a triple.
  • Jessica, who pitched a great game.
  • Jeannine, who threw another runner out at first base from right field.

  • Keep your chins up, only good things ahead, girls!

    Game vs. Racers 4/21/2005 (W 12-9)

YAAC (Yet Another Awesome Comeback). It is amazing how you girls manage to come back late in games. It shows great spirit, but honestly, a bit tough on the coaches' nervers! Way to go!

    Kudos (from memory) to:
  • Jeaninne, who received the game ball, threw out a runner at first from rightfield.
  • Bridgette, who pitched the entire game, helping us to save our other pitchers' arms.
  • Rachael, for starting a double play in the field.
  • Wendy, (welcome back!) in her first at bat and first pitch for her this season, singled to left field.
  • Brittany W., who helped out the team by playing well at an unfamiliar position.

  • Well done, girls!

    Game vs. Juggernaut 4/19/2005 (W 10-9)

Wow, what a game! And what a GREAT rally in the last inning to win the game! I couldn't be prouder of the way you hung in the game, kept battling, and finally just won the game.

    Kudos to:
  • Julia, who received the game ball for pitching into the fifth inning and coming through with a clutch hit in the seventh inning that won the game.
  • Jackie, for getting her first hit, a very well hit ball, at that.
  • Jenny Rose, for playing excellent defense at second base.
  • Bridgette, for being loyal enough to the team to show up after a track meet and an unassisted double play.
  • Jenny S., who played hurt as long as she could.
  • Nicole, who once again came up from the Majors to help us out and also played excellent defense at second base.
  • The entire team!

Thanks for a great game, girls. Mr. B would be proud of you as well.

    Game vs. Thunder 4/12 (L 10-7)

Another tough one. There is NO doubt we would have won this game if we could have played just one more innning. However, we ran into (another) tough pitcher and darkness. Once again, you girls hung in there and kept fighting until the end. For that, we are proud of you.
    Kudos to:
  • Megan Stewart, who received the game ball and drove in our first two runs.
  • Julia, who hung and there and pitched four innings for us.
  • Jenny Schratz, who played great defense for us at first base.
  • Nicole and Maggie, who are actually in the Majors, for filling in for us.

  • The way you girls stay in games, the wins will come.

    Game vs. Bandits 4/10 (L 8-7)

This was a tough one to lose. We are proud of the way you girls hung in there the whole game, especially in the beginning against one of the league's best pitchers. We very nearly pulled the game out in the end, we were just a bit unlucky.

    Kudos to:
  • Bridgette, who received the game ball for pitching a tremendous game and for some great hitting
  • Jess, for some great hitting and except for being unlucky in the seventh inning, might have won the game for us.
  • Brittany, for a timely hit in the late innings when we desperately needed it.
  • Julia, for doing a great job pitching in relief.
  • Megan Stewart, who once again was a consistent hitter for us.
  • And last but not least, Megan Murphy, who once again played solid defense playing catcher, including throwing several runners out.

  • As we said, a tough game to lose, but a great effort. Thanks, girls!

    Game vs. Juggernaut 4/9/2005 (W 15-5)

Well, what can we say? Mr B. and I cannot expect more from the team than what you all gave today! An excellent performance for our first game! Team performance highlights:
    • Team communication was great throughout the game in the field.
    • Great team defense.
    • Great patience when batting (we received 16 walks)
    • Everyone hustled.
    • Everyone was paying attention and encouring each other when we were at bat.
    Individual performance highlights:
    • Jessica receives the game ball for pitching the entire game and "gutting it out" the last couple of innings when she was getting tired.
    • Megan Stewart went 3 for 3 with 3 Runs Batted In. If there was a second game ball to give out, she would get it!
    • Jenny Rose hit a triple.
    • Megan Murphy did a great job playing catcher (including throwing a runner attempting to steal second).
Again, great job girls. If we play as well as we did today, we will win lots of games this season.
